An overview of the supported brokers and exports, logging a trade by hand, and where to find the import log.
By NKTrades
Trades enter your journal in two ways: you import an export from your broker, or you log a trade by hand. This article gives the overview; the step-by-step instructions per broker live in their own article.
Tradovate offers just one export, the orders export: individual fills. The journal follows your position from open to flat and builds trades from that itself.
TopStepX order export (recommended): contains every order, so your fills, stop-loss and take-profits are attached to the trade right away.
TopStepX trade export: contains the average entry and exit per trade and the P&L as TopStepX calculates it, but no fills, stop or take-profits.
You don't need to say which export it is: the journal recognises it from the file itself. Go to Trading → Accounts and click Import on the account, and the screen asks for the CSV file.
Trade with a broker the journal doesn't import, or just want to record a single trade quickly? Click Log Trade in Trading → Trade View. Fill in symbol, direction, entry, size, and optionally exit, fees, account and strategy; leave the exit empty and the trade stays open until you complete it.
Under Trading → Accounts you'll find the Import log tab: one line per upload, even when nothing came out of it. Each line shows the file, how many positions were found, how many are new, how many were skipped, and how many were completed.
From the action menu on a line in the import log, choose Revert import. That removes the trades that file added, along with their notes and tags. Positions the import only completed stay, because they were already there. This can't be undone.
If you just want the line gone from the list without touching any trades, choose Remove from list instead. You won't be able to revert that import afterwards.
Not sure which TopStepX export to use? Pick the order export: it gives you the most.

Why does your P&L differ from your broker?
Net versus gross, estimated fees, and why an unknown instrument or the wrong time zone can shift your numbers.
Re-importing and duplicate trades
Why importing twice does no harm, how a trade gets completed instead of overwritten, and what happens to your notes.
